Тhe Izolyator Group together with the Indian electrical company Mehru Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (P) Ltd. took part in the 15th International Electric Power Forum Elecrama in Delhi, India.
From February 18 to February 22, 2023, the Izolyator Group together with the Indian electrical company Mehru Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (P) Ltd. took part in the 15th International Electric Power Forum Elecrama in Delhi, India.
The World Electricity Forum ‘Elecrama’ is the flagship showcase of the Indian Electrical Industry ecosystem. The Elecrama is a platform to connect the world with Indian industry in respect of technology, new trends and innovation for future energy transition. Featuring not just equipment & technology, Elecrama offers peerless thought leadership platforms for everything electric — from technical conclaves, seminars, conferences to industry summits. The organizer of the forum is the Indian Electrical & Electronics Manufacturers' Association (IEEMA).
At the joint exhibition stand with Mehru Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (P) Ltd. Izolyator Group was represented by three enterprises:
- Russian Izolyator Production Complex for the production of high-voltage bushings;
- Indian manufacturer of high-voltage bushings — MIM;
- Russian plant of high-voltage cable accessories Izolyator-AKS.
Among the exhibits at the stand, a sample of a 420 kV transformer bushing with solid internal RIP insulation manufactured by MIM was demonstrated — the first bushing of this type, localized by an Indian enterprise. The production of all its parts, except for the internal insulation, assembly and testing are done in India. The internal insulation is made in Russia.
For the first time in India, the products of the Izolyator-AKS plant were demonstrated. The advanced developments of cable accessories were represented by cable connector, outdoor termination and cable joint, all in 126 kV class.
Mehru Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (P) Ltd. brought to the attention of the visitors of the exhibition new developments of its products — instrument current transformers for voltages up to 500 kV.
Here is what the immediate participants, representatives of the Izolyator Group and Mehru Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (P) Ltd, told about the work at the forum, its results and their impressions.
Alexander Slavinsky, Head of the Izolyator Group, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MIM:
‘The first thing I want to say is that it was with great pleasure that I saw a large number of both representatives of the participating companies and visitors of the exhibition who were actively interested in the activities of the enterprises of the Izolyator Group. To this day, such large-scale forums have been impossible for several years due to the pandemic.
It so happened that the time of the Elecrama 2023 Forum coincided with the 15th anniversary of our first visit to India and the beginning of activities to establish long-term cooperation with industrial and energy companies of the country. This is a great opportunity to witness the right choice of strategy made years ago, evaluate the path traveled and see the result — the demand for our technologies and production experience, embodied in the almost completely localized products of MIM.
At the same time, we are not stopping to rest and for the first time present at our joint stand a plan to build a new full-cycle plant in India for the production of high-voltage bushings with RIP insulation for voltages up to 420 kV inclusive. There are first practical results taken in that direction.
Separately, I would like to mark the favorable atmosphere and social circle on the forum. Our stand was not empty for a second: delegations approached, got acquainted, an interested professional dialogue started ... It was especially pleasant to see old acquaintances — witnesses and participants in the path traveled together, our reliable partners. We express our sincere gratitude to the Executive Director of Mehru Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (P) Ltd. Sandeep Prakash Sharma for the excellent organization of the entire process of our communication with visitors and forum participants.
As I said, we do not stop for a moment in the international cooperation development and Brazil will be its next stage. Based on 15 years of productive cooperation with Indian partners, we are consistently and systematically expanding our activities in this direction. In particular, the following Brazilian delegation took part in the work of our exhibition stand:
CEO of TDM Service & Solutions Cristiano Gianini;
Managing Director of TDM Service & Solutions Priscila de M. Gianini;
Head of America Sales of MIM Hugo Lira;
Co-Founder & Managing Partner at Saravibe LLC Camilla Juricic.
During the forum, representatives of the engineering company TDM Service & Solution, operating in the electric power sector, got acquainted with the production and technological capabilities of Indian companies and, as a result, found potential partners for establishing and developing cooperation’.
Sandeep Prakash Sharma, Executive Director of Mehru Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (P) Ltd., Managing Director of MIM:
‘This is already our second joint participation in the Elecrama forum — for the first time, Izolyator and Mehru were presented in a consolidated manner at the forum in 2020.
Also, the creation of MIM was announced to the general public for the first time. I would like to say a few words about the success of this enterprise, whose products are presented here at the joint stand.
First of all, about the 420 kV bushing on display: in October 2022, type tests were carried out, in January 2023 it was certified by the state power grid company Power Grid Corporation of India Limited, and in February its first shipment to the customer took place.
Over the past year, MIM products have been approved by end-users: the largest Indian state-owned energy company NTPC Limited, Odisha State Power Transmission Corporation Limited, Punjab State Power Transmission Corporation Limited, Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Limited, one of India's largest power grid companies.
In 2022, shipments of products to all key transformer manufacturers in India took place: Transformers & Rectifiers (India) Limited, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd., Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) Pvt. Ltd., Transformers and Electricals Kerala Limited, TBEA Energy (India) Private Limited.
A special feature of our participation in the Elecrama 2023 forum is the premiere of high-voltage cable accessories — products of the Izolyator-AKS plant, which is part of the Izolyator Group.
We registered a huge interest in this product, and this was predictable: taking into account India's power industry development plans, the demand for such modern and high-quality equipment will only grow.
Another characteristic detail is the high level of competence of our delegation in the field covering the electrical and power markets of India, their structure and features. On these issues, Alexander Slavinsky was approached for advice and expert assessment by Russian visitors to the exhibition — representatives of companies intending to develop business in this country. Isn't it an indicator of recognition of us as established experts in the Indian market?’
Dmitriy Orekhov, Head of Sales — Asia & America of Izolyator Group, Director of MIM:
‘First of all, I want to thank the organizers of the Elecrama International Electricity Forum and the accompanying exhibition, the area of which allowed to place more than 1000 expositions of participating companies.
The functional design of the Izolyator — Mehru exhibition stand, its well-chosen location and the active work of the staff ensured an almost continuous flow of visitors during all days of the forum.
Representatives of energy and electrical companies showed great interest in a 420 kV bushing sample displayed at the stand in the exposition of high-voltage insulating equipment. Samples of high-voltage cable accessories were also very popular — this is the premiere demonstration of the products of the Izolyator-AKS plant in India.
As a result, the first inquiries for equipment manufactured by the enterprises of the Izolyator Group have been received. For a number of positions, preliminary negotiations were held on the possibilities of their localization in India.
One more and no less equally important outcome of the forum is a large number of direct contacts with our existing partners around the world, including Indian power grid companies, Russian transformer plants, European suppliers of materials and components, and other partners.
At the end of this brief review, one of the most important results of participation in the Elecrama forum should be emphasized: we have clearly established ourselves as the first supplier of 420 kV bushings in the electrical market in India, having received many positive reviews and new inquiries’.
Pavel Kiryukhin, Chief Engineer of the R&D Center of Izolyator Production Complex, Technical & Technology Director of MIM:
‘It can be said that our exhibition stand was a ‘forum within a forum’, so rapid and buoyant was the business life on its floor throughout all the days of the Elecrama exhibition without exception.
We had a lot of productive meetings about materials and components for production, negotiations with Indian manufacturers of test equipment, also receiving and exchanging useful information with designers of various transformer plants.
Some companies — our current partners in the supply of materials and technological equipment — took part in the exhibition only because of our presence at this forum.
We also received representatives of European companies manufacturing similar products. It should be noted that such equipment is so diverse and most visually presented only by us.
At the exhibition stand, we demonstrated a 420 kV bushing — this is exactly the very sample that, just before the forum, successfully passed seismic resistance tests. Thus, we have confirmed the high quality of our products.
Close communication with partners and colleagues throughout the event formed an objective first-hand understanding of the technical level at which the global electrical industry is operating today and where it will move on to. We have a clear vision of what we will be doing in a year, two, three…’
Viktor Pshennov, Technical Director of the Izolyator-AKS:
‘The first and unforgettable impression is the scale of the exhibition, which brought together the leading Asian, European and American manufacturers of power equipment, as well as the largest energy companies in the world. By right, this forum is considered the world's largest industry event.
In India, there are no manufacturers of high-voltage cable accessories, and therefore there was a strong interest in the products of the Izolyator-AKS plant, presented at the stand.
On the one hand, we enjoyed a keen interest from suppliers of materials and components for the production of cable accessories — namely dielectric liquids, and winding materials, and a number of other components.
On the other hand, Indian cable factories were presented at the exhibition, the products of which can be complemented by our cable joints. And, of course, a mutual interest arose between us in joint deliveries.
Our booth was approached very often and we answered a lot of questions. This product will be in great demand in the country, and our Indian colleagues understood our firm intentions to be present in the cable technology market on a permanent basis, appreciated our desire to localize the production of cable accessories in India.
To the key result of the forum, I would attribute the manifestation of a real, comprehensive interest in our cable accessories on the part of operating enterprises, cable plants, construction organizations.
Ivan Mikoyan, Project Manager of Izolyator Group:
‘It is worth noting that the last time the Elecrama forum was held in 2020. This is a major event expected by all participants and visitors. In India, power outages are not uncommon, so the saturation of the electrical market with reliable and modern power equipment is of particular importance.
In my opinion, at the exhibition we have reached the maximum possible coverage of the target audience. This was facilitated by the carefully thought-out design of the exhibition stand and its location, the precisely adjusted composition of the equipment presented at the exposition, the advance planning of working meetings and the clear organization of negotiations with partners.
As a result, all four days were spent in active work, a number of agreements were reached on consideration of promising joint projects, and our booth was visited by key figures of companies — world leaders in the field of electrical engineering and energy.
I would also like to note the structure of our work, which was carried out in parallel in three areas:
- interaction with current and potential customers of the products of the enterprises of the Izolyator Group of companies;
- analysis of the local market of materials and components for the production of high-voltage bushings and cable accessories;
- search for suppliers of modern and efficient technological equipment necessary for the further development of production.
I consider one of the main results of participation in the Elecrama forum is the strengthening of our positions in India and the South Asian region as a whole”.
